GOP Wants Thousands to Die Quickly

March 15, 2011

Like you, I need to know what danger the tsunami in Japan poses to me here in Atlanta. Fear not! The mind bogglingly boggled minds at ABC News 13 in DC are on it!

GOP would cut tsunami warning funding

Stunning analysis

I might have guessed those cruel, heartless, racist, islamophobic, xenophobic, homophobic, ignorant tebagger bastard conservatives have no concern whatsoever about the threat of mass tsunami destruction in Atlanta. Swine.

To start with, the National Weather Service has nothing to do with tsunami warnings. That would be the US Geodetic Survey. NWS is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Congress does not specify which areas within NOAA to cut – but perhaps they could look at cutting some of the billions spent on studying the effects of now debunked Anthropogenic Global Warming and, say, the spawning habbits of smelt species. For a start.

Aside from factual clulessness, I find politicizing this unfathomable tragedy in Japan as disgusting as it is stupid.

Via Michelle Malkin, here’s a list of resources on How to Help. We are already working with our church’s mission to bring in food and bottled water – a shipload of it. This is the most immediate and essential need – a great place to start. The deeper human needs will continue for years. Something about this image grabs my heart and won’t let go.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” – Matthew 25.

Prayer is good and right and necessary, but prayer without deeds is hollow. As an old friend used to say, “We need to put some legs on these prayers.” How can you help?

That photo. The lady amongst the rubble. I want to scoop her up. No words.

Agreed. Still can’t comprehend the magnitude of suffering there. Pray for these people and think about helping. I can’t do much to help, but I can’t do nothing.
